Message from the PSFP President
Greetings from the Philippine Society for Fertility Preservation (PSFP)!
As we embark on another productive term, I am excited to share the key projects that will define our collective efforts in advancing fertility preservation in the Philippines. These initiatives reflect our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and accessibility, ensuring that fertility preservation becomes a viable and inclusive option for all those in need.
Key Projects for 2025:
1) Masterclass on Male Factor Infertility
We will organize a specialized masterclass on Male Factor Infertility in collaboration with the Philippine Society for Reproductive Medicine (PSRM) and the Philippine Urological Association (PUA). This event will aim to provide cutting-edge knowledge and practical insights for addressing male infertility.
2) Nationwide Database of Fertility Preservation Cases
A nationwide database will be developed in collaboration with PSRM, the Philippine Society of Gynecologic Endoscopy (PSGE), and the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS). By utilizing the existing database of POGS, we aim to minimize costs while establishing a comprehensive record of fertility preservation cases.
3) Case Rate Development for Cancer Patients
We plan to engage medical directors of all IVF centers to discuss the possibility of establishing a standardized case rate for fertility preservation procedures, including oocyte, embryo, ovarian tissue, sperm, and testicular tissue banking, specifically for cancer patients.
Furthermore, we will approach and collaborate with the National Integrated Cancer Control Council (DOH) and PhilHealth to allocate a portion of cancer funds toward fertility preservation procedures.
4) Awareness Campaigns
To bridge the gap in knowledge and access, we will conduct awareness campaigns targeted at both healthcare providers and end users, including patients and the general public. These efforts aim to improve understanding and advocacy for fertility preservation.
5) Setting Up a Uterine Transplant Team
To address the needs of patients who may benefit from uterine transplantation, we will work on setting up a dedicated Uterine Transplant Team, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in fertility preservation and treatment.
These initiatives represent our unified efforts to create a future where fertility preservation is not just a medical option but an accessible reality for all. Together, let us advance the practice, empower patients, and build a strong network of collaboration and innovation.
